URINE FOR A CAUSE

The most common cause of death in dogs is now CANCER.

The Westie Foundation of America (WFA) has agreed to fund, in collaboration with RTI, Inc. a research project using urine for early detection and treatment monitoring of canine cancer.  This technology, once developed will be available to all veterinarians and owners through commercial laboratories.  As substantial urine samples are analyzed, other disease processes affecting our dogs such as atopic dermatitis, diabetes, pulmonary fibrosis, etc. may be detected and monitored early on screening,

The 1st phase of the work is simply to collect 250 urine specimens to  “teach” the equipment normal and abnormal parameters. The WFA is supporting the cost of $175 per sample to see this work come to fruition.

The WFA in collaboration with  Rametrix, will begin collecting urine samples at Kimberton Friday, October 4th and Saturday, October 5th.

Please see us at our table at Kimberton to set your Westies up for urine collection at no charge Montgomery week. As usual, all research information is confidential.

PLEASE CONSIDER THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS WORK AND ALLOW YOUR WESTIE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR THE FUTURE HEALTH OF ALL WESTIES!
