The Westie Foundation is planning to expand this section with more videos over time. To start the process, here are the videos from the 2015 Seminar by Dr. Jerry Bell. These videos are lengthy, but there is a wealth of information in them for the serious breeder.

Dr. Bell is a Clinical Associate Professor of Genetics at the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.
Part One (55 minutes):
The seminar was presented in two parts. The first part discussed Pedigree Analysis, Genetic Diversity, and Genetic Disease Control based on West Highland White Terrier pedigrees, AKC registration statistics, and pedigree analysis of the most influential West Highland White Terrier dogs and bitches. He discussed genetic diversity in the breed, how the selection of mates and types of matings manipulates the genes of the ancestors in the pedigree, and popular sire syndrome.

Part Two (1 hour, 22 minutes)
In the second part Dr. Bell discussed genetic disorders affecting the West Highland White Terrier, with updates from his recent conversations with pertinent researchers. He also discussed our health surveys in relation to what is seen in the field, different types of genetic tests, their availability, and their proper use.
